3rd Year: Missing Ezra...

Last Friday, some of us asked our teacher of English about Ezra: “Where is he?”, “Why did he leave so early?”, “Will he come back?”... If we had not learnt so much from him, we’d certainly not be missing him now, but he taught us so many interesting things!
We still remember what he told us about the way English people celebrate Halloween: “Adults dress up with costumes and go to parties, children go trick-or-treating, but I stay at home, turn off the lights and try to be quiet so that people believe nobody is in the house. Halloween is such big business…”. How right you are!

All Years - Ezra, the English Visitor

Dear all,

This week we’ve had a very special visitor, a teacher that has come all the way from England to spend a few days with us. He has shared his time with almost all the classes in Primary and with some classes in Secondary, and children have had a great time working on Halloween, Science and other topics. Now that he’s gone everyone is asking about him, so a big THANK YOU!! to Ezra for his help and kindness, and for the opportunity to ask dozens of questions to a native speaker. We hope to see him at the school again soon!

Hello families!

We are going to take advantage of this short break to finish off some tasks we started at school. Some children will have to finish colouring the separators for the ring binders. Most will have to finish the clothes word cards. Remember to initial them on the back, to write the name of the object on the front (you’ll find it in the picture dictionary in the Student’s book), and to colour the cards. If you need help with the pronunciation of these objects, here’s a link to an online dictionary with sound:
http://www.wordreference.com/es/translation.asp?tranword=english

Happy Halloween!!

Bon Halloween!!

3rd Year

In the last two weeks, we’ve been looking at animals and, specifically, at their different habitats and diets. Now we know that wild animals live in nature (in the jungle, in the savannah, in the sea…), whereas pets live in houses. However, there are also some animals which are kept for use or profit; these animals live on farms. We still remember the online activity we did in class to learn about animal habitats:
As regards the animals’ diets, we already know that herbivores eat plants (leaves, roots, flowers, fruits, grass, pollen…), whereas carnivores live on meat. Yet, some animals eat both other animals and plants; these animals are called omnivores, and humans are among them. In order to learn about the animals’ diets, we did the following online activities:

4th Year

Next Wednesday, October 19th (4th A) or Thursday, October 20th (4th B), we’ll take our first exam.
What to study for the test
-          The difference between a city, a town and a village
-          The main buildings/places in a city
-          The main rooms in a house and the activities that take place in them
-          The structures “Are there any…?” – “Yes, there are/No, there aren’t” & “Is there a…?” – “Yes, there is/No, there isn’t”
-          Names of things that begin with “sh-“ and “ch-“
All the activities in Unit 1 on the Multi-ROM can help us study for the exam.
Good luck!

-          Les estructures “Are there any…?” – “Yes, there are/No, there aren’t” & “Is there a…?” – “Yes, there is/No, there isn’t”
Bona sort!

3rd Year

Hi everybody!
In our third session of Science, we focused on natural and artificial materials. Now we know that natural materials are found in nature whereas artificial ones are made in factories from the former. And another thing that we’ve learned in English is to say what material a given object is made of.
What we enjoyed most about the session was the online activity in which we had to drag several objects into the right box according to the material they were made of. However, our teacher was very strict and did not allow us to sit down until we managed to say in a loud and clear voice: “(this object) is made of (this material)”.
See you around!

Hola a tothom!
Malgrat tot, la nostra mestra va ser molt estricta i no ens deixava asseure’ns als nostres llocs fins que no aconseguíem dir en veu alta i clara: “(this object) is made of (this material)”.
Ens veiem!

Hello families!

We sure love dogs, but we’d like to learn about other animals as well, so we are thinking of making a poster with pictures of wild animals. We’ll need your help: please cut out photos of wild animals you find in magazines, postcards, internet, so that we can talk about them in class this coming week. Thank you!!

4th Year

Hello!

This week we've been working on the structures "there is", "there are (some)" and "there aren't any" together with some vocabulary related to the buildings in a city, town or village. Since we already master these structures, we do think it's high time we transferred them to other contexts. So, the idea is that we describe this photo to our parents using the new-acquired structures: "In this bedroom, there is a....; there are some..., but there aren't any...". We must be self-confident and show our families that we can already make short descriptions in English!

Hola!

Aquesta setmana hem estat treballant en les estructures "there is", "there are (some)" i "there aren't any" juntament amb vocabulari relacionat amb els edificis d'una ciutat, vila o poble. In this bedroom, there is a....; there are some..., but there aren't any...".

2nd Year

Here we are again!

Our teacher is really impressed with us! We’ve written the story of Josephine in our book almost without help!! Now we will practise reading it while listening to it on the CD since we need to realise that words don’t sound the way they are written. Don’t forget to have fun with the song we posted about last week!

1st Year

Hello 1st Year!

We would like to show our families some of the things we’ve learnt for the last three weeks. In our CD there is a song about a dog called Bingo, and we’ve brought home a drawing of this dog with the letters that spell its name. We should listen to the CD and sing the song as often as possible, since repetition is very important in language learning. We have also talked about the sizes and colours of the dogs. Ask your child to describe the dogs you see in pictures, on the street, etc.
